Hair Types 3A,3B,3C--4A,4B

This is a photo of 4A/4B Thick hair using the 1-4, A-C, typing system. Most heads have multiple hair types. I don't know of anyone with only one type of hair on their head.

Star Jones

Here is a photo of television personality Star Jones Reynolds. I am putting up this photo because she has the hair that I would like to try to wear. I'm liking the color a whole lot and she looks good with this particular hair cut and style. I don't believe that under this wig she has natural hair, but I always liked her style etc.

Make-Up vs No Make-Up

I have checked out blogs on here and websites on the internet where women are discussing whether we should wear make-up or not wear make-up. As far as I'm concerned, wearing make-up is something personal. Either you like it or you don't. I like make-up myself personally, but hardly ever wear it because my skin does not take well to most make-up. Some of the most beautiful women in the world regularly wear make-up most of the time. I don't think a woman wearing make-up should have anything to do with if her man, or men in general thinks she should or shouldn't. If you are fine with a bare face, then go with a bare face. I don't like a lot of make-up on myself personally because I think my own skin looks better without it. Maybe I need a course in using make-up to better enhance my looks or something. I'm all for that. I like eyeshadow a lot and have a lot of eyeshadow that I use sometimes. And lipstick is the one thing that I never leave the house without. What I don't like is mascara. I have tried using this stuff a few times and always hated it. I don't naturally have long eyelashes and can't warm up at all to mascara. I sometimes wear false eyelashes which I enjoy wearing. The natural hair ones are the best. The synthetic ones I find itch etc. I have a pair of false eyelashes that look like the ones they used to wear in the 60's that were very thick and long. When I wear them, you can't tell me nothing! Don't even be hating when you see me with my super thick and super long false eyelashes! Don't hate, participate.

Erykah Badu

This is a super BAA. Erykah sports the biggest, baddest afro on this photo. It must take her hours to wash and condition her hair. However, I would guess she has it professionally done.

Angie Stone

Here is a photo of one of my favorite people, Angie Stone. She is a natural beauty, but knows how to rock a wig big time. She wears different types of wigs and they all look good on her. I love her music and I think she is beautiful.

Two Strand Twists

I'm thinking about doing some two stranded twists on my hair maybe over the next few weeks. My problem with doing twists is they always unravel and I end up having to re-twist over and over again. I'm going to try it again though. I personally like to do my twists on either dry or semi-dry hair so that they hang nicely. Whenever in the past that I have done twists on shampooed hair, I always ended up with shrunken twists that tend to knot up when I try to remove them. With twists you need a good base on your hair like a twisting type cream etc. The one I have I think is by ORS. It smells good and has coconut milk in it. I'll post a picture of my twists when I do them. (Any helpful hints on doing twists would be appreciated. Either e-mail hints or put in comments section)

Getting Enough Moisture in Your Hair

This winter has been an odd one. Some days the temperature is warm and other days it's cold. This poses some problems when I style my hair. I have found that on some days it's easier for me to wear a wig. I have a lot of them and want some new ones. I don't like really short or really long wigs. I sort of like my wigs to be about the same length of my own hair. Now as far as moisture is concerned, there are so many different moisturizers on the market that I sometimes don't know which one to purchase. I have tried a lot of them. Some of them work and some of them do not. I guess if I want the perfect moisturizer I might have to combine some of the products until I get what I want. Sometimes I find what I believe to be the perfect product and then I read the ingredients and here comes the petrolatum. I must admit that I did recently purchased a moisturizer by Hollywood Beauty (pic to the right) and it has petrolatum and mineral oil in it. I'm only going to use this product right after shampooing & conditioning to seal my hair. I'm going to have to see how it works out on my hair, since I haven't applied any petroleum or mineral oil based products on my hair in the longest time. I will post up here how I like or dislike it anyway. (*UPDATE ON THIS PRODUCT): I used this product and found it very hard to wash out of my hair. I don't like this product and would not purchase again.

Pulled Back/Center Part Afro Looks

This is how I like to wear my hair out in an afro in the summer months with a middle part held back with barrettes. This is an easy look and I don't use anything on my hair other than a moisturizer.

Top photo is another pulled back look using moisturizer and a little gel. I also added a "puff", to complete this look.

Untamed Natural Look

India Arie shows off an untamed twist out type of look that I like. She looks awesome on this photo.
